Matthias Mieves, born in Zweibrücken in 1985, has been a directly elected SPD member of the Bundestag for the Kaiserslautern constituency since October 2021.
With the support of the Hans Böckler Foundation, among others, Mieves studied business administration with intercultural qualification/ English studies at the University of Mannheim from 2006 to 2010 and completed semesters abroad in Australia and Peru. From 2011 to 2021, Matthias Mieves worked in various areas (including Technology & Innovation, Marketing, Smart Home) for Deutsche Telekom AG.
He joined the SPD at the age of 16, got involved in the local association and became a member of the municipal council of his home town of Bruchmühlbach-Miesau in the Palatinate region at the age of 18. Since 2004, he has also been a member of ver.di and Greenpeace. The active political work and participation of young people is a matter close to his heart.
