"Equality of opportunity and intergenerational justice are central to the cohesion of society. To ensure that political decisions take this into account, it is important to have diverse parliaments in which young people and their interests are also adequately represented. Political education at a young age and the voting age of 16 are therefore matters close to my heart."
Bruno Hönel, born in Dresden in 1996, has been a member of the Bundestag for the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group since 2021. In the Bundestag, his main areas of focus are the budget and home affairs. In addition, he is committed to transparency and clean politics. A member of the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen party since 2016, he founded the Green Youth in Lübeck in 2017. From 2017 to 2019, he was a member of the district executive of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen Lübeck; in 2018, he became a directly elected member the Lübeck City Parliament. From 2018 to 2021, he was the chairman of the Green parliamentary group there and spokesman for social affairs, health, higher education and the Hamburg metropolitan region. Since 2020, Bruno Hönel has also been spokesman for the state working group Gewerkschaft grün Schleswig-Holstein.

In 2016, Bruno Hönel began his psychology studies at the University of Lübeck, which he successfully completed with a Bachelor of Science. Since 2019, Bruno Hönel has been studying for a Master's degree in Psychology at the University of Hamburg, which he expects to complete in February 2022. During his studies, he worked as a student research assistant at the Center for Integrative Psychiatry of the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein in the research group Social Neuroscience and at the professorship Engineering Psychology & Cognitive Ergonomics of the Institute for Multimedia and Interactive Systems at the University of Lübeck. In 2017 to 2018, he was an elected member of the student parliament at the University of Lübeck. In April 2018, he became a Heinrich Böll Foundation merit scholar with a grant from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF grant).
