Serap Güler is State Secretary for Integration in the Ministry for Children, Family, Refugees and Integration of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. She was born in Marl in 1980 to a Turkish immigrant family. After graduating from high school, she trained as a hotel manager and then studied communication sciences and German studies. From 2012 to 2017, she was a member of the state parliament and integration policy spokeswoman for the CDU parliamentary group in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. Today, Serap Güler's adopted home is Cologne. As State Secretary for Integration, she is committed to equal opportunities and an open society. For her, participation and involvement are the key to greater social cohesion and peaceful and sustainable coexistence. "Youth parliaments are an important instrument for learning from each other across generations and engaging in exchange. So it's a win-win for everyone involved," says Güler.
